Holiday Activities

So, I first must apologize for not posting anything since Halloween!  I thought for sure I did a Thanksgiving post...but I guess it never happened.  Below is a plethora of Holiday crafts and activities we did through December.  The kids had a blast preparing for Santa :)  I hope that everyone had an amazing break!  I included some pictures of my Christmas Break.  Looking forward to an awesome 2014 in room 107!

We made several different ornaments for the kids to take home and put on their trees.  I made the base ahead of time out of Popsicle sticks.  Then the kids glued puzzle pieces on them, painted them white, and of course sprinkled glitter on them :)

Next up, we made these cute little paintings!  I got the idea from Pinterest :)  The kids enjoyed getting their feet painted as well as finger painting.  I laminated them and sent them home...I figured these were keepsake material.

A big part of our holiday preparation was float building!  We decided to enter a float in our local Holiday Parade.  We had a lot of great parent participation and the kids really enjoyed riding on the float the day of the parade.  We ended up taking first place!!

During our Christmas Party in our classroom, we made gingerbread houses with our parents.  I think more candy was eaten than was stuck to the houses :)

And here is a little glimpse of my Christmas Break.  I got to spend it up north where my family as well as my husband's family lives.  I had a great time catching up with family and wearing pajamas more than I probably should have :)

Halloween in Room 107

We had a blast celebrating Halloween in our room!  Our parties were filled with fun activities and Halloween themed food.  The costumes were awesome as well!  Check out our pictures :)

We had a candy corn measuring activity where each kiddo had to measure Halloween pictures with candy corn to figure out how tall they are.  Candy is much more interesting than rulers :)

We had an apple relay race in the hallway!

We made black cats out of paper plates...

We had a delicious snack of dirt cups and worms :)

And of course took pictures in our spiffy costumes!

And here is a peak at my own Halloween celebration :)  Mr. Kloss made a pretty funny crayon.

Happy Halloween!  Be sure to check out Thanksgiving coming up :)

Field Trip Fun and Fire Fighters

October has been a blast in our class.  We've taken a "hands on" learning approach this month :)  Our trip to Cotants Farm Market consisted of watching how apple cider is made, picking our own apples, and selecting the perfect pumpkin from the patch.  The kids were enthralled with every second of the trip...including the bus drive :)

As you can see, we had a fabulous time and our day was just about picture perfect...

Later that week, we had the fire fighters come visit with their truck and gear.  We have been talking about fire safety all month, so it was great for the kids to be able to see how it all works!  We even got to go inside the truck!

Coming up next...our halloween party!!

Fall Projects

During the past few weeks we have been busy getting ready for our big Art Gallery Fundraiser.  Each year, the kids create awesome art projects.  We display them in the hallway on the night of the fundraiser and parents can come and "buy" them.  We get all of the profits and the kids have a wonderful time!

We made leaf prints, alligators with our foot prints, hungry caterpillars out of balloons, and marble art.  The kids worked really hard and a great time getting it all together!

Outside Fun in the Fall!

The weather this fall has been amazing so far!  We've been trying to go outside at as much as possible.  The kids are working on their large motor skills on the big play ground.  They are also enjoying using side walk chalk to practice tracing their hands and feet as well as writing their names.  Too cute!

Spirit Week

We also celebrated spirit week in preparation for homecoming!  We had America Day, Farmer Day, Camo Day, College Day, and TK Spirit Day!  Go Green :) :) :)

Next up, we have our field trip to the pumpkin patch, a visit from the fire station, and our first report cards!!

Beginning of the Year!

Well year two is under way and boy is it a busy one!  Last year, I had 38 preschoolers and this year I have 51!  We've been very busy getting to know each other learning all about school.  We've had a great start together...check out what we've been up to below.

Here is a sampling of our first day of school pictures :)

We've also been working on some fall crafts.  We made trees, and then used our fingerprints to make the leaves.  We also painted with leaves using neon colors!

More posts to come soon!!

End of the Year!

I can't believe I'm actually writing this post!  I feel like I just met all these preschoolers a few weeks ago.  It has been truly amazing to watch them grow into students going off to kindergarten.  I've been very lucky to have an awesome class this year for my first year of teaching.  Parents have been so supportive of me and I have been able to really do a lot with these kiddos.  I will miss each and every single one!  Enjoy the end of the year celebration pictures!

We made these all about me poems with flowers.  Very cute responses :)

We made these pictures of us is graduation caps and explained what we learned in preschool...

The last day of school we got to play out side all day!  Bubbles were lots of fun...

We even got to have a water balloon fight :)

Thanks again for an amazing year!!

Spring Projects

Lately we've been able to explore the outdoor world due to the wonderful weather...but when we're inside, here is what we've been working on!!

We've been studying farm and zoo animals, so the kiddos put together these adorable farm animals out of paper plates :)

For Mother's Day, I took a picture of each preschooler holding a sign that says "I Love You to Pieces," then they made frames with puzzle pieces!  I also interviewed each kid about their mom's.  There were questions like "how old is your mom," and "what does your mom like to do." The answers were quite entertaining!  Some kids said their moms were 12 and that they liked doing laundry, while others said their mom was 61 and liked to clean the house!  Very fun project :)

We are in our final 2 weeks of school, and I can hardly believe it!  Next up...graduation :)
